Some families report improvements, but controlled studies have not confirmed consistent benefits.

Artificial Additives

Some parents report artificial colorings and preservatives worsen behavioral symptoms. A 2007 Lancet study found artificial colors increased hyperactivity in children generally, not specifically autistic children.
