What Families Often Ask About School Readiness Support inCharlotte, NC

Is school readiness support a preschool program?

No. School readiness support is provided through ABA therapy, not as a preschool or academic program. Your child’s BCBA determines which readiness skills belong in the treatment plan, while one-on-one ABA provides opportunities to practice those skills in our structured, play-based center environment.

Yes, an autism diagnosis is generally required because school readiness support is provided through ABA treatment. We review your child’s diagnostic evaluation, referral, and insurance requirements before moving forward with the ABA assessment.

There is no set number of months before preschool or kindergarten that every child should start. A BCBA assesses your child’s current needs and recommends treatment goals, weekly ABA hours, and settings based on what is clinically appropriate for your child and family.

Not being toilet-trained does not automatically rule your child out of ABA at our Charlotte center. The BCBA assesses your child’s needs and determines whether the center is an appropriate setting and which functional skills should be addressed through treatment.

School readiness skills may be covered when they are medically necessary goals within your child’s ABA treatment plan. We verify your benefits and authorization requirements, while the BCBA determines which readiness goals are clinically appropriate to include in treatment.
